Clean Slate, video, 5 min., 2006
I decided to document myself cleaning the chalkdust off a board that had accumulated after one full year of teaching. Condensing 30 minutes of repeated attempts to cleanse the board into just 5, each of the infinite patterns formed in the drying dust trace the residue of my rapid actions, resembling a temporal abstract expressionist painting. The piece also operates as a process of mental cleansing and a simple symbol for repetition and renewal.
