Collective Direction, Pigment Print, 40 in. x 6 ft., 2006
Walking through the Yakima Valley Mall parking lot with my camera I noticed
an abundance of white directional arrows. As a scientist would treat his
specimens, I catalogued each and every one of the arrows in the same objective
fashion. In one large and continuous print, I brought the entire species
together to examine their sameness and difference. The end result is an
image that flutters and flows with changes in tonality and detail like that
of moving water.
