From a Distance, Approx. 6 x 20 ft., Toned Silver Prints, 2004
In this photographic installation I included images of both the ocean’s surface and the horizon. I wanted to recreate the sensation of bobbing on the shifting surface of the ocean and inspire the feeling of disorientation. The crosshairs, consistently placed on each image, place the work in the context of a scientific investigation. The images sit tentatively on the border between function and form, questioning the boundaries between science and art, objectivity and subjectivity.
